ParadigMS: improving Multiple Sclerosis patient care through education
LAUREA brings together the world’s top Multiple Sclerosis experts. It accumulates their knowledge and expertise and transforms it into learning experiences for the digital ParadigMS platform.
ParadigMS is an independent and non-profit international group of Multiple Sclerosis experts that dedicates itself to improving Multiple Sclerosis patient care by translating state-of-the-art science into practical education at local level. ParadigMS operates in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.
Made-to-measure learning experiences
LAUREA designs learning experiences by co-creating closely with neurologists who specialise in Multiple Sclerosis. Starting with a needs assessment, we determine what topics to cover in a learning experience and devise a concept for it. We then choose the most appropriate format for delivering this learning experience. Formats can range from expert meetings or symposiums to workshops, lectures and scientific articles.
Streamlined logistics
Once a decision has been made on the content and its delivery format, we put in place all the necessary logistics. We organise the meetings with experts and use these meetings for creating various forms of educational material depending on the requirements and the most appropriate learning experience for the topic. These include e.g. videos, e-learning programmes, lectures, PowerPoint presentations, scientific articles … We manage the full production process of the preferred educational material.
Spreading the word
Once the educational material has been created, we promote it in different ways. We create different forms of content for social media and spread this content by means of organic posts as well as paid advertising, mainly on LinkedIn. We use email marketing as well as event marketing. For effective promotion, we coordinate the various suppliers such as medical writers, copywriters, online marketers and graphic designers.
A unique content library
All the subsequently compiled educational material is posted on the ParadigMS digital platform. To date, this platform has evolved into an exceptionally comprehensive and unique content library packed with resources on Multiple Sclerosis patient care. The platform gets updated continuously with the addition of new content that can be accessed securely.

ParadigMS learning e-platform
ParadigMS distributes all its educational material via paradigms.foundation, an educational platform that makes learning easy and accessible. Learners can create a profile, track their learning progress and receive the latest news from the world of Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
ParadigMS’ learning platform offers:
On-demand webinars (recordings of lectures)
Short expert interviews
Links to published articles
Peer-reviewed slide decks
e-learnings (asynchronous and self-paced)
Tools for use in clinical practice
Live educational events
EACCME Accredited courses
ParadigMS offers EACCME Accredited self-paced courses through its educational platform. The platform helped us collect extensive data about the participants and speakers, and about the way in which they interacted during the conference. Users can create a free account and get unlimited access to ParadigMS learning material.

Live educational events
To realise its vision, ParadigMS designs and implements live educational events with the aim to improve clinical practice.
Each live session ensures:
Focus on clinically relevant learning
Based on peer reviewed educational materials
Using sound educational methods
Speakers that are expert in neurology and multiple sclerosis
During 2022, ParadigMS successfully organised the eight ParadigMS Symposium in Belgium, the first ParadigMS Egypt Symposium in Cairo, the first ParadigMS Master Class in Belgium and successfully participated in the 7th MENACTRIMS Congress. At the same time, a workshop was conducted in the university hospital of Liège, Belgium.
Slide decks
ParadigMS Experts meet twice a year to peer-review educational slide decks on different topics around MS.
The peer-reviewed slide decks are distributed online and made accessible via the ParadigMS learning e-platform (paradigms.foundation).
E-learning
ParadigMS designs and develops asynchronous and self-paced e-learnings covering different topics related to multiple sclerosis. The e-learnings are free and disseminated via the learning e-platform (paradigms.foundation).
In 2022, ParadigMS developed a +2-hour e-learning on Microglia.
ParadigMS Needs assessment
To develop better training programmes, ParadigMS decided to develop a needs assessment survey to get more insights into the training needs and the preferred learning environment of neurologists and residents.
The survey was launched in December 2022 and will be closed in July 2023. The findings will be presented in September 2023.
Articles
ParadigMS’ experts engage in the creation and publication of position and review papers in peer reviewed journals.
The papers are produced in line with the Good Publication Practice guidelines and are published as Open Access to ensure the entire neuroscience community has access to them.
ParadigMS supported the publication of three articles during 2022. In 2023, the efforts will focus amongst other topics, on publications on Microglia and on Cognition.
